The Pathfinders' Club of Australia (PCoA) was formed in late 2003 by a small group of four-wheel-drive and camping enthusiasts who met each other on an Internet 4WD forum. The Club was incorporated on 16 February 2004 and is an affiliate of the Four Wheel Drive NSW & ACT Inc.
Whilst we came together because of our mutual interest in a particular vehicle - the Nissan Pathfinder - it soon became evident that our common interests surpassed those of just vehicle type.
The club is focussed on 4WD touring and camping throughout Australia, our main membership body is currently based in NSW and QLD. We use 4WDing as the means (touring) to an end (camping) rather than it being the end itself. As a consequence, most of our 4WDing tends to fall into the easy-to-moderate category. However, we do occasionally participate in 4WDing days "just for the fun of it" and occasionally tackle some of the more difficult terrain.
The current members are mainly family folk and so the club has, and will continue to have, a strong family friendly focus. The club's activities therefore lean more toward relaxed camping
and touring, allowing time to explore our chosen locations and for the kids to have plenty of fun. We also get together for day trips, picnics and barbeques.
The club will also participate in various ANFWDC activities, such as environment clean-up days, working bees and inter-club activities as often as possible. These are not only worthwhile activities, but are usually very social events and a great oportunity to meet yet more like-minded folk.
